OUR MINISTRIES

Every Sunday morning at 9 AM we hold an inspiring and welcoming worship service.  Holy Communion is celebrated every Sunday; healing services are held once a month.  We worship with a variety of traditional and contemporary sources.  Beautiful music and meaningful sermons are a part of each Sunday.

Prayer Chain

If you would like prayer for a concern for yourself or others, please contact our prayer chain by emailing or calling Carmen Beardsley, our prayer chain coordinator:  carmen.j.beardsley@gmail.com.  Your prayer request will be held in confidence and lifted up by the women and men on the prayer chain, as soon as they receive it.  If you would like to be a part of the prayer chain, please let Carrmen Beardsley know.

Women of the ELCA (W/ELCA)

Our group of friendly, lively women generally meet on the evening of the second Tuesday of the month, May through September, along with special events.  We do a Bible Study, share in conversation, and support mission projects like the Harbor Center in Two Harbors or the Phebe Solar Power Project in Africa. All women are invited to join us!

Children's Church

Children’s Church takes the place of traditional Sunday School within our congregation, meeting during a part of the worship service, so that children begin and end worship with their family, but also get a time of Christian Education.  A large and dedicated group of volunteer teachers provide fun and valuable instruction in the Bible. Memorial Garden

We are blessed with a beautiful Memorial Garden outside our church, which is maintained by our members and available any time for your viewing, sitting, or reflecting.  The story of Creation is told in Lake Superior stone mosaics, designed by artist Laura Stone.

SPECIAL OPPORTUNITIES

Use your talents and abilities to benefit those around you. Here are just a few of the ways you can be of service

Creation Care Team

We have a group of members that are passionate about connecting faith to living in an environmentally responsible way.  This group is headed up by Lawrence Burkhard at present, and sponsors environmental education efforts, events, and Creation-themed worship services. Music

We love music!  Our Joyful Noise Choir is always looking for members; we generally rehearse prior to worship on Sunday mornings.  Our Bell Choir, the Knife River Ringers, also welcomes new members and rehearses on Sundays at 5 PM.  In addition, we have a quartet, Free Four All, and lots of wonderful music from our gifted organist/pianist, Carol Carlson, and clarinet player, Lawrence Burkhard.

Outreach Ministries

We are involved in outreach at a local level with the Two Harbors Food Shelf, the Harbor House, the DAC, the Backpack program for Hungry Children, and other such ministries.  Regionally, we support LSS, the Center for Changing Lives, the Northeastern Minnesota Synod.  Globally, we support the Lutheran World Relief, the ELCA World Hunger Program, Families at the Dump in Mexico, and other mission projects.

Council and Committees

We have a Christian Education Committee, a Worship Committee, an Endowment Fund Committee, a Property Committee, a Stewardship Committee, and a Church Council that meet as needed to help with the activities and oversight of the church.  We would be glad to have more people join these committees or serve on Council!  Our current Council President is Helene Hedlund.
